This website is owned and has been created by the World Institute for Conservation and Environment, WICE to promote the use of ILWIS, the free user-friendly alternative GIS to the products of the GIS market leaders with the intention to make GIS and remote sensing applications more accessible in the world of natural resources management, environmental sciences, biology and land-use management and planning. ILWIS is an open-source code software, and WICE does not pretend to have any ownership of the software; it merely makes it available for downloading for the benefit of ecologists, land-use managers and planners, conservationists, scientists and good-land-use practitioners.
